Highlights From Ivy Talent’s 9th Annual Thanksgiving Camp

Ivy Talent’s 9th Annual Thanksgiving Camp successfully wrapped up on November 27. Students from across the United States came together in Boston to celebrate the holiday with Ivy Talent’s dedicated team of consultants.

Our Annual Thanksgiving Camp
Since 2014, Ivy Talent’s Thanksgiving Camp has given students the chance to learn and grow during school holidays. Over the past nine years, including a special Spring Break Camp in 2020, we’ve helped students make the most of their time off. We know that families want to keep students engaged while also giving them time to relax. With years of experience, our team creates programs that help students stay motivated while also giving them the break they need.

Ivy Talent’s annual Thanksgiving Camp is designed to give Chinese students in the U.S. a warm, welcoming space to relax, connect, and feel at home during the holidays. Whether they’re in middle school or high school, students join us each year to recharge and learn in a supportive environment. This year’s camp featured a mix of academic and cultural activities that made the break both meaningful and memorable. Here are some highlights from the event!

Academic Programs
Academics remain a central part of our camp experience. This year, we offered the following courses:

SAT and TOEFL Preparation
Students participated in full-day test prep sessions led by two top instructors from Shanghai’s Mushroom Education, Mr. H and Ms. L, who were specially invited to Boston for this session. They worked closely with students to improve their test-taking skills and get them ready for upcoming exams.

Scholastic Writing Competition Preparation
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is one of the most prestigious creative competitions in the United States for students in grades 7 through 12. To support students in their preparation, we invited Ms. A, a writing coach who holds a Master’s degree in Literature from the University of London and a teaching certificate from University College London. Ms. A has taught in nine of the ten official Scholastic writing categories. Her students have earned an impressive 80 percent success rate at the state level, with six Gold Keys, one Silver Key, and nine Honorable Mentions in a single competition cycle.

Introduction to Business Competitions
For students interested in entrepreneurship, we offered an introductory course on branding, marketing, and business strategy. The course was taught by Professor S, who has over ten years of teaching experience and currently lectures at Cambridge University’s MBA program, teaches at Northeastern, and leads summer courses at Harvard and Tufts. Under his guidance, students have earned top awards in international business competitions, including third place in the China regional round of the Diamond Challenge.

Independent Study Sessions
For students who did not enroll in structured classes, we arranged comfortable, supervised study spaces in hotel conference rooms. These sessions provided a quiet environment where students could work on assignments, prepare for exams, or receive support on college applications from our experienced consultants.

Comforting Meals
To help students feel at home, we served a variety of traditional Chinese dishes from different regions, along with fresh fruit and snacks. These familiar meals offered comfort to those who might not be accustomed to American-style holiday food.

Thanksgiving and Black Friday Shopping
As part of our goal to balance learning with fun, we organized activities that gave students a chance to enjoy American holiday traditions. With pandemic restrictions lifted, they were especially excited to go Black Friday shopping. Our consultants took them to major department stores like Macy’s, where they got to experience the excitement of U.S. holiday culture firsthand.

On Thanksgiving Day, students and consultants came together for a traditional turkey dinner. They wrote gratitude cards and celebrated as a group.

A Message from Ivy Talent
We’re truly grateful to all the families who chose to spend Thanksgiving with Ivy Talent. Celebrating this special holiday together, even while away from home, made it a memorable experience for all of us.

During camp, students worked hard, grew more confident, and made new friends. Some were with us for the first time, while others had attended in previous years. Each student added something valuable to the experience and helped shape a memorable program.

To all the parents, students, and friends of Ivy Talent, thank you for your continued support.

We look forward to seeing you at our 10th Thanksgiving Camp next year!
